A place to play.
A pathway to grow.
Floreat Athena provides football opportunities for junior players from U6 through to U16, with programs for children taking their first steps in football, community players and those seeking a more advanced development pathway.
Your season starts here.
Whether you're already part of Athena or considering joining us for the first time, your first step is our Registration & Trial Hub. That's where you'll find the pathway that applies to you and complete your RSVP or EOI.
JDL Team 1 & MiniRoos Academy
Players wishing to trial for our targeted JDL Team 1 or MiniRoos Academy squads need to submit an Expression of Interest first.
JDL Team 2 and MiniRoos Development selections are made through the trial and existing-player placement process.
Clusters, Community & JCL
Not trialling for a targeted squad? Complete the relevant 2027 RSVP through the Hub to let us know you'd like to play at Athena next season.
Existing players can also choose to secure a provisional place through the process outlined on the Hub.
Tell us you'd like to play or apply for a targeted pathway.
We complete trials, confirm numbers and start forming teams.
Complete PlayFootball registration when it opens in early 2027.
Which age group is my child?
Junior football age groups are based on the age your child turns during the season year. A child turning 10 at any time during 2027, for example, is an U10 player.
Girls playing mixed football may be eligible to play one age group below their usual age group in accordance with competition rules.
Ready to register in PlayFootball?
PlayFootball is the formal Football Australia registration step and happens after our RSVP, EOI, trial and team-placement process.
When 2027 registrations open, we'll direct players to our PlayFootball Registration Guide with everything you need to complete your registration correctly.

Training schedules vary depending on age group and pathway, with most teams training once or twice each week.
Clusters fixtures
Our U6–U8 Clusters competition is managed internally by Athena. Families receive match and season information directly from the club rather than through the regular Football West fixture system.
What does my player wear?

Junior football takes a team.
Our junior program relies on parents, families and supporters helping create a great football environment for our players.
Help where it matters.
Every team needs people around it. Roles include coaches, assistant coaches, Team Managers and families helping with match-day responsibilities. You will be required to assist with match day tasks such as home game refereeing, pitch set up and pack up and ground marshal duties. Don't worry, we'll show you how it's done.
There's more than one way to help.
You can also get involved with events, equipment, football operations, grants, communications, administration, girls' football and flexible one-off support.
Our Junior Operations Committee meets every three weeks and we are always looking for people to help out. You dont need to know anything about football and its a great way to be part of something bigger and make new friends.
Find a role that works for you.
