Four simple steps.
Get your team together.
Teams should aim for 8 players, with a minimum squad size of 7 and maximum of 10. Nominate a team manager as your main contact.
Secure your spot.
Your Team Manager registers the team name using the Register Now button when they open on Wednesday 26 August. The first 8 teams registered in each age group will secure a place.
Register your players.
Once you're locked in, your Team Manager will receive a player registration link to share with the team. Each player must complete their own registration and payment. A minimum of 7 registered players by mid September is needed to confirm your place in the competition.
Kit up and play.
We will tell you your team colour and how you can access a special deal on game day tops, or you can source your own.

Got questions?
When does Athena Sixers run?
The competition kicks off Wednesday 21st/Friday 23rd October and will run for eight weeks until Wednesday 9th /Friday 11th December 2026.
Where are games played?
All games will be played at Litis Stadium, with four pitches running consecutively. Spectators can watch off the pitch from the sidelines and enjoy Athena hospitality with the clubrooms open, serving food and drinks.
Do I need a team before registering?
Yes, get your team together, appoint a team manager who will submit your team. Once confirmed we will be in touch with how each player registers and pays.
What age group should my child play in?
Athena Sixers uses the same age group as your child’s winter football team. Age groups are based on the age your child turns during 2026, not their age on the day of the game.
For example:
-
U10: your child turns 10 in 2026
-
U8/9: your child turns 8 or 9 in 2026.
Girls in the mixed competition can play one age group down — for example, a girl who turns 11 in 2026 can play U10 mixed.
For the girls-only competition, players must play in their correct age group.
Putting together a team with players from different age groups? No problem - just enter the team in the oldest player’s eligible age group. For example, if your team includes U10 and U11 players, you’ll register in U11.
How many players do we need?
Teams should aim for 8 players, with a minimum squad size of 7 players and a maximum of 10.
What are the rules?
Check out our page outlining the full competition rules here, including game duration, player eligibility and general match rules.
Do we need a coach to play?
That's up to you. We suggest the best approach is just to let kids play but depending on their age they might need some help. We recommend that each team have at least someone to help manage subs.
To ensure fun for all, we are asking that each team only has their players and no more that 2 team officials (e.g. a coach and team manager) on the pitch, freeing spectators to enjoy the game from off the pitch in the spectator zones.
Will the advertised game times definitely apply?
The published times are indicative. Final age-group structures and kick-off times will depend on registration numbers and will be confirmed before the competition begins.
Will there be girls competitions?
Yes! We will have u10s, u13s and u16 age groups. Wednesday evenings will be prioritised for girls competitions where possible.
Girls are welcome to play in the girls only age groups, or join a mixed team.
In mixed competitions, girls may play a year below their usual age the same as what's permitted under the Football West Competition Regulations when they play for their club team.
What colour kit should my team wear?
When registering your team, you’ll be asked to select two preferred game day top colours from:
Black · White · Dark Blue · Light Blue · Red · Orange · Green · Yellow · Pink · No Preference
Please note that game day tops/shirts are not included in your registration.
We’ll do our best to allocate your team one of your preferred colours, however kit colours are subject to availability and we may need to allocate an alternative colour to avoid clashes with other teams.
Don’t worry if your team doesn’t already have matching kit. We’ll keep the colour selection simple and can point you in the right direction for affordable kit options if needed.
Tip: Choosing two different colour preferences gives us the best chance of matching your team to your preferred colour.
